The wind rages, the waves are towering. Captain Daland and his crew can barely weather the storm – the ship runs aground on a sandbank. In the distance, another ship emerges. A ship with blood-red sails and blackened masts…
That’s how the story of The Flying Dutchman begins. An old legend about the power of the sea, a mysterious ghost ship and unfulfilled desires. Countless writers, poets and filmmakers were inspired by it. From the poet Heinrich Heine to the film Pirates of the Caribbean.
The Amsterdam Marionette Theatre presents a special marionette version of it’s own.

Poetic music theatre for both adults and childeren (7 years and older). Length of performance 1 ½ hours (interval included). Five puppeteers handle the large, handmade wooden marionettes.
Performed with our own CD-recording, with some (short) Dutch tekst.
Because of the visual and musical character of the performance, the language is no barrier.
