ÜCRETSİZ TÜRKÇE GÖSTERİ / İNGİLİZCE ALTYAZI
Turkish Yeşilçam film with English subtitles
The Golden Age of Turkish Cinema (50s-80s)
Before streaming, before multiplexes, there was Yeşilçam. Named after a modest street in Istanbul’s Beyoğlu district, Yeşilçam was the beating heart of Turkish popular cinema. Throughout the 1980s, it churned out hundreds of films a year: tearful melodramas, bittersweet romances, sharp social comedies. It was cinema made for the people, by the people. Rough around the edges, deeply human, and entirely its own.
This evening, we’re reviving one of those stories. Which one? You’ll have to show up to find out.
Join us for a mystery screening from the Yeşilçam era, complete with a quiz and prizes!
